Tucked away in our garden at Ferndale Nursing Home is a space that brings a great deal of pride and enjoyment to residents and staff alike, our wonderful vegetable patch. Over the past season, it has flourished into a thriving, productive area, filled with fresh, homegrown vegetables including hearty cabbages and delicious potatoes.

There’s something incredibly special about watching vegetables grow from the ground up. For many of our residents, the vegetable patch brings back fond memories of tending to their own gardens, growing produce for their families, and spending time outdoors. It’s a simple pleasure, but one that carries a deep sense of familiarity and comfort.

The patch has become more than just a place to grow food, it’s a place to gather, chat, and share stories. Residents enjoy visiting the garden to see how everything is progressing, noticing the changes from week to week, and taking pride in the results.
